So what else do you need to know before you decide to apply? Here's a list of answers to the questions we're most commonly asked.

We generally start our recruitment activity in October or November, with pre-registration usually beginning in October and applications opening in December. If you have pre-registered, we’ll send you an email to let you know. Then all you need to do is complete our online application form and attach your CV along with a covering letter telling us just how amazing you are.

If your online application is successful, we’ll invite you to an Assessment Centre, which we typically run from April. There’ll be a variety of activities and you’ll have every chance to show off your skills. If the competition’s really fierce we sometimes hold second interviews too.

We’ll send you an automated email telling you when we receive your application and we’ll get in touch after the closing date to let you know whether we’d like to see you for the next stage.

You don’t have to, but these work placements are more relevant to those studying a HR, Business, Leisure & Hospitality or Tourism course.

The HR team is nine people strong, but you get to work with people all over the Resort too.

It would be handy. But if you don’t, it’s no big deal – we’ll give you all the training you need.

As well as a one-week handover with the previous placement student, plus on-the-job training, you’ll also get Merlin Core Course training.

Yes. The salary is around £14,700 for the year.

You’ll work a 40-hour week, usually Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. However, you will also have to work some weekends and evenings in line with business needs.

You’ll have 28 days’ holiday, including bank holidays, during your placement.

The placements start in July and last 12 months.

Chessington World of Adventures Resort prides itself on its social events for cast members. These take place every month and range from quiz nights to themed boat parties and the much-anticipated Chessington World Cup. It all reinforces our friendly, motivated working atmosphere and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get involved.

In addition to this, the HR team is just as close-knit and often socialise as a team outside the office.

Well, not during your shift. However, once you pass your introductory review (normally after six weeks of service) you’ll get a Magic Merlin Pass. This gives you free access to all Merlin attractions in the UK and around the world.

Unfortunately, we don’t provide accommodation. However, we do have contact with local landlords in the area for which details can be provided upon request. We also recommend the websites below.

We don’t provide transport to and from the Resort. But with several local bus routes and a train station within walking distance, the transport links are already pretty good. See Where we are for more information.
